The 20 franc Vreneli coin is Switzerland’s most famous gold coin, often compared to the French Napoleon. Known as the “Head of Helvetia”, this historic coin was issued between 1897 and 1949, with a total of 58.6 million pieces minted. The female portrait on the coin, depicting Verena, a symbolic figure of Switzerland, was designed by engraver Fritz Ulisse Landry. On the obverse, above Verena’s head, appears the inscription “Helvetia”.
