Krugerrand
The Krugerrand gold coin is one of the most recognized gold investment coins in the world. First minted in 1967 by the South African Mint, it was designed to promote the trade of South African gold. Its name comes from Paul Kruger, former president of the South African Republic, whose portrait is featured on the obverse, while the reverse depicts a springbok antelope, a national symbol of South Africa.
The Krugerrand contains 1 troy ounce of pure gold (31.1 g) with a fineness of 916.7/1000 (22 karats), the remainder being copper, which gives it a slightly reddish hue and increased durability. The price of this coin fluctuates with the gold market, and it is highly valued by investors for its liquidity and international recognition.
